Why do we need the Stewardship and Development Department?

Stewardship is the practice of donor cultivation and development that leads to improved donor retention.  With the problem of donor attrition increasingly a client concern, consultants should offer effective solutions to assist charities to improve donor retention.

At the same time, many other fundraising channels such as direct mail and telemarketing are finding donor acquisition more challenging and more expensive than ever before.  Concern is building that current acquisition methods have reached the saturation point.  As a result, many charities are less willing to accept high levels of attrition and have concentrated efforts on improving donor retention.

This is where I come in…this is where developing proper Stewardship and Courtesy practices is required now days…
