Hey Y’all,
I have a blurb from one of my top verification callers and his view of how to ensure Donor’s feel special when they hang up the phone!

My job is to call donors for a variety of charities who have recently signed up for small monthly contributions and verify their information. The main goals of these calls are ensure the donor is accurate, make sure the donors know what to expect from their donation and to thank the donors.
Accuracy is a pretty simple theory, I go over banking/credit and mailing information and ensure it is correct and also making sure the financial commitment is realistic for the donor.
Making the donors aware of what is expected of them (gift start up dates, long term commitment, informing the charities of any change to the banking/credit and personal information) and what expect from the charity (welcome packages, tax receipts and contact information).
The more they know/remember about their donation the more likely they are to stay on as long term donors.
Finally, expressing gratefulness is the most important aspect of the verification call. Thanking the donor for their time and contribution is the first and last thing I do. If donors feel that their contributions are valued and make a difference to the organization they will be much happier. Informed donors are good but donors who feel appreciated are great.
I make sure that the donors we send of to charities ready to be onboard long term by ensuring the donor we have Accurate information and the donor has clear Expectations and a sense of Appreciation.
